INTERVIEW WITH RICKY WARWICK

Here is an interview with the vocalist, guitar player and founder member of The Almighty, Irishman Ricky Warwick played some of the biggest stages and venues across the globe. Ricky has been a solo artist since 2002. In the past he has been, not only a member of The Almighty, but in a few punk-orientated outfits like Stiff Little Fingers and New Model Army. We talked about his last solo album called "Belfast Confetti".

AngelDevil: Hi Ricky, nice to talk to you. "Belfast Confetti", It's a really good album! What will your new project add to your own music road? And what response did you get so far from fans?
RW: THE REACTION TO BELFAST CONFETTI HAS BEEN GREAT, PROBABLY MY BEST RECEIVED SOLO ALBUM SO FAR. I THINK ITS GOOD TO LET PEOPLE SEE THAT THERE IS MUCH MORE TO MY MUSICAL STYLE THAN JUST BEING THE SOUND OF THE ALMIGHTY.

AngelDevil: Do you have any favorite songs off of the new CD?
RW:ITS HARD TO PICK ONE, I GUESS IT WOULD BE " THE ARMS OF BELFAST TOWN' THAT SONG HAS DONE REALLY WELL FOR ME AND OPENED UP A LOT OF NEW DOORS.

AngelDevil: I've got the feeling that since "Belfast Confetti"and "The Arms of Belfast Town"; you found the good formula and good video! Where did the lyrics come from and what inspired you to write that song?
RW:THE SONG WAS REAL EASY TO WRITE. I WANTED TO WRITE A GOOD POSITIVE SONG ABOUT BEING FORM NORTHERN IRELAND AND WHY I LOVE MY COUNTRY SO MUCH. THE LYRICS CAME FROM A LOT OF HAPPY MEMORIES OF GROWING UP THERE.

AngelDevil: Do you plan on making another video for any of the songs?
RW:MAYBE. THERE IS TALK OF A MOVIE BEING MADE BASED ON THE WHOLE BELFAST CONFETTI ALBUM WHICH WOULD BE BRILLIANT.

AngelDevil: How would you like to define your music?
RW:SOULFULL, POWERFULL, PASIIONATE, RAW, TRUTHFULL, ROCK N ROLL

AngelDevil: Whats funniest, recording in the studio or touring and meeting fans?
RW:WHEN I WAS RECORDING THE GUITARS ON "THE ARMS OF BELFAST TOWN' IN LOS ANGELS THERE WAS QUITE A BIG EARTHQUAKE HIT.

AngelDevil: Did you enjoy playing in Italy with Therapy?
RW:YES I DID, IT WAS GREAT TO PLAY IN ITALY AGAIN. THAT WAS SUCH A COOL TOUR.

AngelDevil: Ok, let's talk a bit about The Almighty now; was it hard to emerge on the music scene as a solo artist after taking part with The Almighty?
RW:IT WAS MORE SCARY THAN ANYTHING ELSE, IT WAS A BIG STEP INTO THE UNKNOWN FOR ME AND I WASN'T SURE HOW I WAS GOING TO BE PERCEIVED, I HAD GONE FROM BEING IN ONE OF THE LOUDEST, HEAVIEST BANDS TO STANDING ALONE ONSTAGE WITH JUST AN ACOUSTIC GUITAR.. IT WAS STRANGE AT FIRST. BUT I LOVE IT NOW.. TO BE HONEST I GET MORE OF A THRILL OUT OF IT THAN WHEN I WAS IN THE ALMIGHTY.

AngelDevil: Was it difficult for you to find a record deal nowadays?
RW:YOU DON'T NEED A RECORD DEAL NOWDAYS.. JUST A GOOD DISTRIBUTION DEAL!!!!

AngelDevil: Any plan for the upcoming future?
RW:LOTS MORE TOURING AND RECORDING.. JUST TO KEEP ON KEEPIN ON!!

AngelDevil: What does living rock n'roll at 100 % mean for you?
RW:ROCK N ROLL IS THE BIRTH AND DEATH OF ME. ITS COMPLETE DEDICATION TO YOUR ART WITH NO COMPROMISE.

AngelDevil: What are your hobbies and how do you enjoy your free time (well, if you've got any)?
RW: I SPEND ANY FREE TIME WITH MY WIFE AND KIDS, THEY ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN MY LIFE.

AngelDevil: Thank you again for your time! Wanna leave an extra message to get this interview done?
RW: KEEP THE FIGHTS REAL AND LEAVE SOME BLOOD IN THE PLACE!!
